Weekly prompts to help you think a little harder, write a little longer, and have a bit of fun in your journal. I provide the prompt and then a bit of discussion afterward to help you think beyond the prompt.
How To Use Weekly Prompts
Using weekly prompts can be as simple or as difficult as you would like. I do not use one every day, and sometimes I use several from the weekly prompts list at one time. Over time, I have learned that too simple doesn’t work for me. I like to push the question around in my mind, look at it from a couple of different perspectives, and see what comes out.
Imagine, if you will, the prompt as a unique piece of artwork. Put that piece of artwork on a pedestal and then move around it. Look from side to side, high to low, and anything between. I want it to speak to me, give me thoughts, and guide my thoughts into a deeper understanding.
In all seriousness, I do study the question. I don’t spend hours on it and sometimes not even minutes. A few seconds and a few pointed questions after. Generally, those questions begin with why. Why did the prompt spark that response? Does that matter to me, and why? Why did I choose that answer/point? My meanings and questions can be vastly different from yours. That’s okay! The prompts are supposed to spark YOUR thoughts and feelings.
Focus Quote
I write in a journal daily. This extraordinary ritual has revolutionized my mindset, transformed my heartset, and generally influenced in my life exponentially.
Robin S. Sharma
I am 100% in agreement with Robin Sharma. I also write in a journal daily, which has transformed my life. The writing has made me more calm, less anxious, and more in touch with my own desires. I understand myself better. I have a better understanding of my own reactions to events that happen around me. Most importantly, I don’t get as overwhelmed by my emotions and feelings because I have a reliable place to dump them and sort them out.
Going through all of these changes encouraged me to want to share this ability to change with others. You can experience the same changes or even more. I want that for you. So, I began building journals to sell. I built this website to encourage you to write more and to share my love of journaling to help you learn more.
One of the most important things you can do is love yourself. Show yourself the respect you deserve, and care for your mind, body, and soul. As you journal, you deepen your love for yourself, and your relationship with yourself becomes less critical and more supportive. Nothing is better for your loved ones than for you to love yourself and be a stronger person for them.
Weekly Inspiration
Journaling
Writing daily is as simple as sitting down with your journal and starting. Write about your day, about your feelings, about the color of the sky. Anything works, just write.

Creative Journaling
Themed creative pages are my favorite. I love that she has so much going on and its all coordinated. The hexagon paper quilt covering the outer edge deserves an award.

Bullet Journaling
In bullet journaling, trackers are used a lot. This one is a body tracker, but there are all sorts of others as well. This is a good reminder that while we take care of the outside, we can journal to take care of the inside.

The images that I choose for inspiration are not about the links. They are solely about the images and what they represent. I love seeing other people’s journals. I love the inspiration that hits me to go write in my own. Sometimes, that inspiration leads me to try something I have seen on their pages. Mostly, it just inspires me to write!
Weekly Prompts
38.01 When shopping, do you drive your cart on the left or right side of the aisle?
People. This question is important. If you are driving that cart on the wrong side in the store, fix it. You should drive your cart the way you drive a car, and then there are no traffic jams in the aisles, lol. Seriously, why do you drive your cart the way you do? I choose the road method because it’s orderly and prevents problems, but lately, I’ve noticed many people drive wild in the stores.
38.02 How do you feel about phone calls?
Do you like making phone calls? Do you like receiving calls? The sound of a phone ringing (any tone) instantly sets my anxiety on a fast pace to the stratosphere. It is so hard for me to make and receive calls. I blame it on introversion, but it could be more than that. What about you? How does a ringing phone affect you? Does the caller’s identity change how you feel about the incoming call? Do you like making phone calls? Does the identity of who you are calling make a difference in how you think about it?
38.03 Crunchy peanut butter or smooth?
When you daydream about a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (I’m doing that now), is it creamy or crunchy peanut butter? I remember trying crunchy as a kid and didn’t like it then either. So which do you prefer? Why is that your choice? Have you ever tried the other?
38.04 How do you feel about flying?
Seat window or aisle? Avoid it or love it? Once upon a time, I was terrified of planes. Then I flew on one. On my first trip, I discovered I was among the lucky ones affected by the ‘railroad spike’ pain in the sinus cavity on flights. I never fly now without taking sinus medication. Other than that, I love flying. Anything that saves me time is a win in my book! I love the window seat, but only when it’s big open seating; otherwise, I have to do the aisle seat.
38.05 Do you use apps or notebooks for task management?
In today’s world, there are thousands and thousands of options for task management. There are apps galore, and they all offer the same service but with a few minor differences. There are notepads and notebooks and everything in between. What is your choice? Do you use a combination? I use my bullet journal and obsidian. Obsidian is a relatively new find, and I don’t actually know how I functioned before I found it.
38.06 How do you drink your coffee?
Or do you drink tea? I hear about people drinking tea, but I have yet to try it in the morning. I drink Yirgacheffe every morning, black. No sugars, no cream. What about you? How do you doctor up your morning dose of energy?
38.07 Word of the week: Tchotchke.
Look it up, listen to how it’s pronounced, write it down, and use it in a sentence or two. Do you have any tchotchke in your home? I bet you have some tchotchke sitting around you right now!
